Tuesday, November 16, from 6 to 9 pm

Join us for an exploration of what Professor Mahzarin R. Banaji calls “mind bugs”, the glitches that are present in all minds. In this dynamic and interactive presentation, participants will explore the ways mind bugs can compromise decision making in educational, legal, medical, financial, and political contexts. By examining questions of individual responsibility and social justice in democratic societies, participants will begin to chart a path for change.

Dr. Banaji is the Richard Clarke Cabot Professor of Social Ethics in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University. She studies human thinking and feeling as it unfolds in social contexts. Her focus is primarily on mental systems that operate in implicit or unconscious mode and their social consequences.

This event is part of the Ko Family & Wellesley Toyota Speaker Series at Belmont Day School.

Free and open to the public. For more information call 617-484-3078.
