Great teaching is happening in classrooms around the country every day, but the nature of our work makes it difficult to observe our colleagues and learn from their practice. Our teacher exchanges are designed to provide a professional development structure for peers to visit each other’s schools. We invite peers to come to Belmont Day School for teacher residencies of a day or more, and we welcome invitations to observe or arrange site visits at other schools. Our Educators’ Exchange program provides funds to pay for substitute coverage for these visits; the only requirement is that participants document the exchange to share with other peers.
Pictured at left are Peers Forum members Teresa Quinton and Kenny Reichel, who teach 5th grade at the Atherton Hough Elementary School in Quincy, Massachusetts. Teresa and Kenny visited the Belmont Day School 5th grade class as part of a Peers residency.
